Notes:

Important: I'm really sorry about this, but I accidentally misclicked and deleted the submission post from last week instead of saving it. Managed to save the first page (25) of secrets, but the rest (about 100 or so) are gone.

If you submitted something last week (Aug 26-Sept 1), please resubmit it here.

The submissions post for next week is below as usual.

Secrets Left to Post: ?? pages, ??? secrets from Secret Submission Post #296.

IDK from the whole "future boyfriend" part it sounded like it was some self insert love poem to some fantasy guy who doesn't exist and the 14 year old virgin part I read as the guy sounding like he literally doesn't know how real sex works. That sounds terrible already to me then you add in awful fanfic cliches...

http://fandomsecrets.dreamwidth.org/669027.html?thread=580828771#cmt580828771 I posted this below and I really dislike that everyone is equating this girl being rude to her not being able to judge writing which are different things because she's a girl and automatically wouldn't know anything about real gay men, I suppose?

I think there are a lot of people in fandom who say ignorant things about gay men because they only deem some types of gay relationship as valid. I think this is especially sadfunny when the people lecturing others on what gay male relationships should/"really" look like are not men... not because women are less worthy than men, but because women are not living in men's skins. If some guy explained lesbianism in a way that excluded me, I'd really roll my eyes.

I cannot tell from the secret as presented whether the issue is actually that his poem was bad or whether she is also mocking his kink without realizing she's doing that.

But everyone is assuming the worst and that she's ignorant and that the poem must have been of a decent quality that the OP simply didn't understand in her girl-ness and that just makes no sense to me. I'm a girl but real gay men aren't some mystery to me. I laugh at bad slash. Lots of us are girls to whom real gay men are no mystery that laugh at bad slash because we're perfectly capable of telling when it is, in fact, awful.

Fair enough. It's entirely possible that he just wrote a bad poem. I'm just saying that, as presented, it's possible that part of the OP's problem might be with his kink in itself. I think that's where the pushback is coming from -- that from what we have here it's just impossible to tell.

That doesn't mean OP is unqualified to judge writing. It means I can't tell whether she's going "heh, bad poem" or being a bit of a jerk.

It doesn't matter how shitty or laughable the poem was. Laughing at it in the class is unbelievably assholish behavior. OP sounds like an immature undergrad who thinks herself highly superior and that her "honest reaction" makes her badass.

If she hasn't learned how to control herself and respond with tact when people are exposing themselves creatively and in person, she doesn't belong in the class.

I'm not disputing that. Girl was rude.

But I'm saddened that multiple anons seem to be mocking the OP and saying she doesn't have ability to judge the quality of the poem because she's not a gay man. That's a different thing.

Someone can laugh at a poem and be utterly rude about it but that doesn't mean they can't possibly understand it because they're a girl.

Oh, well, I don't care about that part.

Ok. Good to clear that up then.
