Notes:

Important: I'm really sorry about this, but I accidentally misclicked and deleted the submission post from last week instead of saving it. Managed to save the first page (25) of secrets, but the rest (about 100 or so) are gone.

If you submitted something last week (Aug 26-Sept 1), please resubmit it here.

The submissions post for next week is below as usual.

Secrets Left to Post: ?? pages, ??? secrets from Secret Submission Post #296.

Well, yes, of all the other actors Viggo did. But if you bothered to listen to the commentary, he scared the ever loving shit out the people he was working with. He gave them bruises. Yeah, kudos for him, he was faithful to his acting, but at the expense of being a complete douche. The hobbits? The orcs? The other humans -- they remembered that they were in a movie and pulled their punches.

I did watch the commentary, and what I heard was that the stunt actors loved it and really got into it and it became a competition that they felt added to the movie's realism. It wasn't just Viggo, either. John Rhys-Davies also had problems because his vision was very limited by the prosthetics he wore. Yet in the commentary, I recall that this also made him a popular opponent with the stunt actors. And as I mentioned, Lawrence Makoare went for it in every single fight scene he had, and because he played three major villains, that was a lot of fighting.

It is possible to pull your punches without looking conspicuously like you're pulling your punches. That's what acting is. If you don't swing your sword like you mean it in a scene where your character is fighting for his/her life, that's bad acting.
