Indeed. I wonder if part of this is that I grew up in the 70's with siblings who were significantly older than I am (from four to nine years older), so I heard a lot of what is now called "classic" rock: The Eagles, Pink Floyd, Fleetwood Mac and yes, the Bee Gees. I even heard "older" (i.e. pre-70's) stuff like The Who and The Beatles.

THIS. I was born in '67 and my first exposure to rock was my brother's Styx, Boston and Queen eight tracks. And his Eagles, and Kansas, and Rush, and The Cars, and Ozzy Osbourne and.....

Yeah, you get it. :)

*for years, that fade when the eight-track changed tracks was just - part of the music for me. When i heard it on cassette for the first time, without the fade, it was *weird*....*

Don't forget the *thunk*thunk* when it changed tracks. (-:

Fortunately, my sibs mostly stuck to vinyl and cassettes. I don't recall there being much in the way of 8-tracks around our house.

We had this station wagon that had an eight track *built in*. It was some car that someone had ordered and then decided they didn't want, and my dad bought it.

It came with an eight track that had 'The Ford Family of Fine Music' on it.

Oh dear gods, i think this is it.....

We had one with 'Convoy' and 'Roller Coaster of Love' on it, too....

At home we had records and a reel-to-reel, the big ones, that my dad made. One in particular i remember had all Xmas music on it.

We inherited a 1979 Lincoln Continental with only 4000 miles on it from my grandfather about 15 years ago. It's still got only 12k miles, and it always has an 8-track tape in the player xD Our usual is Young Frankenstein ~
