Notes:

Important: I'm really sorry about this, but I accidentally misclicked and deleted the submission post from last week instead of saving it. Managed to save the first page (25) of secrets, but the rest (about 100 or so) are gone.

If you submitted something last week (Aug 26-Sept 1), please resubmit it here.

The submissions post for next week is below as usual.

Secrets Left to Post: ?? pages, ??? secrets from Secret Submission Post #296.

Kind of unrelated but I HAAATE the combining feature in Monster Rancher. It's horrifying! "This sentient creature who you have raised from birth, fed, and bonded with, who has been loyally fighting for you its whole life, is getting old and ready to retire... TIME TO KILL IT AND MAKE A BETTER ONE!!" Nightmare fuel. x_x

At least in Monster Rancher Advanced 2, you could hire your old monsters as coaches and keep them around the ranch for as long as you wanted. As a kid I beat that whole game without ever combining because the whole idea was so horrible.

They had this kind of this in Dragon Quest Monster. I ended up pretending that the combination process was just them breeding and once you bred them they retired to that place where pokemon go when you store them in your PC box or something.

And then I'd get to pretend that it was now the children who got to try and live up to the legacy of their parents.

Ever tried beating a Shin Megami Tensei game without fusing demons? I have.

It didn't go so well.

Yeah, I got about halfway through Dragon Quest Monster before I realized that refusing to combine monsters wasn't going to work. Hence my "let's pretend they're retired strategy."

When I was a kid first playing Monster Rancher, that's what I thought combining was - breeding. When I found out the originals didn't survive I was like "WHAT HAVE I DONE?? D:"
