Any recommendations on secluded parts of the fandom? From what I've seen so far, it's mostly on tumblr and the MSPA forums and those are more like great gaping maws.

I want to get more into the fandom, but I've always preferred the smaller communities where you start recognizing the individual usernames and you're not just a small, forgettable raindrop in the huge ocean. Heck, even fandomsecrets is super tiny compared to the Homestuck fandom.

We call it HSG, or Homestuck General.

There's always a Homestuck General in the comics board, somewhere. Has been unbroken for over a year not counting the site being down.

Sometimes we team up with the other main fandoms (tumblr, mspaf, and deviantart) to have amalgamzations of us play Sburb. We call this "metastuck"

The great thing about tumblr is that even though it has the maw thing going on, it's really easy to make a small space of your own/with stuff you're comfortable with. Pick your favorite characters/ships, find their fuckyeahcharacterX blogs, and pick up a few artists/writers you really love from there. Then you can expand your dash based on cool things they reblog at a slower, personal pace. I did this, and I recognize everyone on my dash - because I chose to put them there!

Also, dreamselves is a meta comm, and their are a few other DW homestuck discussion comms. Some of them are more RP-focused than others, but it could be a good place to find/friend a few people you think are really cool.

Avoid the main tumblr-wide tags unless you're in the mood to go exploring through a severely mixed bag.

Well the way I've found my space is by surfing through all those usernames and sticking to ones that suited my tastes and didn't bug me. So I don't know if I can help. :(
