Notes:

Important: I'm really sorry about this, but I accidentally misclicked and deleted the submission post from last week instead of saving it. Managed to save the first page (25) of secrets, but the rest (about 100 or so) are gone.

If you submitted something last week (Aug 26-Sept 1), please resubmit it here.

The submissions post for next week is below as usual.

Secrets Left to Post: ?? pages, ??? secrets from Secret Submission Post #296.

I imagine I'm not the only one who does this because, well people on the Internet saying "Am I the ONLY special snowflake that does X thing?" are kind of stupid xD But I wonder how prevalent this is.

I have this stories in my head, but I don't write them, I *live them*. And I'm not in them. Geez, this is confusing and so difficult to explain (and English is not my first language, to top it all off)
I have this characters, and every time I have quiet time (say before sleeping, while bathing, on the bus) I keep thinking parts of their stories together. They are not linear, and the parts I particularly like I repeat many times.
There are 3 couples, two in one story and one in another (and they have kids). I find it weird when people ask what do you do before sleeping or say they think about their day, because for me I never go to sleep "as myself", it's always as one of the couples (maybe it has to do with me being a cuddler who never had anybody to sleep with xD)
I mean, I know they are not real, and it's not like they are alive in my head or something like that, they are stories. But I wonder how fucked up is that I spend every single quiet moment making them up. I started when I was 8 I think (different stories, of course) and once I wanted to stop so I forced myself to go to sleep thinking about my day or counting sheep or whatever and started having trouble sleeping! So I eventually went back to them.

As a bonus, all the stories are kind of fucked up, I really like to make these poor characters suffer xD
Most of them are male (only one female in one of the main couples) and mentally ill. I wonder what that says about me :/ I try hard to avoid this "clichés" and I end up changing something that makes them fit into them again xD

Sorry for the tl;dr xD

I'm not sure that I "live them", but I do have some characters that I regularly think of non-linear scenarios for! I doubt I'll ever do anything else with them and if I did, it'd be purely self-indulgence. It's nice, though.

Yes, definitely. When I was younger I used to do this with random original characters I came up with, much like you. They were usually couples, too, and things were usually pretty tragic for them. I'd daydream about them a lot and normally fell asleep acting out some scene in my head, where I played the part of one of the chars.

These days the characters in my head are from whatever fandom I'm obsessing at the moment and while I never 'play' one of the characters, I still imagine storylines/scenes/etc with them. It still helps pass the time while doing inane tasks or trying to fall asleep!

I do that, too! For certain fandom characters I like, though, not often original characters.

Another thing I do (or, actually, don't do) is have self-insert fandom fantasies. Ever. Even in my head, I loathe those "self insert dates hot fandom character" fantasies.

Which is apparently a bit uncommon, because whenever there's a secret about writing/fantasizing self insert/Sue stories, there's always someone saying, "It's okay, OP, everyone has done it at one point or another!" except nope, not me. I wrote pretty bad fics early in my foray at fanfiction, but never for like that.

I do the same thing! And every time I go to write them down, I can't because I've "written" them so many times in my head that I'm sick of it by the time I get around to actually putting words to paper.

The same happens to me!
I used to force myself to write something, but then I just said 'whatever' and kept everything in my head.

I have something similar to this, though I combined my original characters with characters from various shows, movies, animes and what not. Whenever I have some alone time, I would imagine them having fun with one another and the parts where it gets interesting repeats in my head over and over. I'm even currently typing a comprehensive history of the world that they live in, Perelandra.

This is pretty much exactly what I do! I'm currently working on an original novel loosely (very very loosely) based on my weird-ass massive multi-player crossover story. I tend to call it a 'headspace'.

Sort of related to your first statement, but...I always love it when female fans of something post on a creators blog or whatnot, and go "Wow, I must be the only girl who watches/reads this XD" and twenty to thirty other female fans come forward and disclaim it.

I personally don't do that, but that sounds really cool and creative. The fact that you can keep stories straight, as well as develop them every night, is a testament to your imagination. Sometimes I'll think up a part of a fic I'm writing, but normally I have to be awake enough to write it down to remember what I want to happen. Have you thought about writing your stories down? Your concepts sound really fascinating. :)

I do the same too. Except in my case I have a character who is kind of like a self-insert, except not because he's the exact opposite of me, and I like to insert him into my various fandoms.
