One year in college, I shared a dorm room with a girl who used to play music really loud all the time. She only did this during the day, often when I wasn't there, so I didn't mind. Other people on our floor did mind, though, and she got a lot of noise complains against her. She had to go in to see the residence director so many times, she claimed that they had become friends.

Where it got to be a problem for me was the noise she'd make late at night: chatting loudly on the phone, cleaning out her desk, RE-ARRANGING FURNITURE AT 3:00 AM, etc. Meanwhile, if she went to bed early and I sat up studying, she'd complain that my desk lamp was bothering her and I should go find somewhere else to work. One time when she was on the phone, keeping me awake again, I finally told her to please stop with the late night phone calls. She started almost shaking with rage and told me that I was not allowed to talk to her like I was her mother and threatened to go to her "friend" the residence hall director and have me forced out of the dorm.

In retrospect, she was a really abusive person.
