I did some RP with a guy in his late 20s when I was 14. In my case, some of the RP was sexual (both our characters were adults, though, and nonhuman to boot), but our friendship never really went beyond online discussion and RPing. *shrugs* I actually expanded my vocabulary and worldview drastically just from being friends with someone who was technically much older than me, but didn't try to actively treat me like I was younger than him. As I told him, "I like the fact I have to keep a dictionary and Wikipedia open when I talk to you."

Honestly, sexual RP or nonsexual, I don't online relationships find it creepy at all (unless they start to negatively bleed into their real life, but that's a whole other can of worms).

But I know what you mean, OP. I tend to keep that kind of background to myself because I know a lot of people are automatically going to scream PEDOPHILE and I'm just going to go, "Uh, he never tried to have sex with me..." and that'd probably make things worse.

It happens to me a lot, actually. I was good friends with my mom's last boyfriend, to the point we would often go out to movies or have lunch together on our own. My mom never had a problem with this and things never really got awkward or anything for any of us, but a lot of people who knew about it kept insisting he was just out to molest me. And I think my dad still worries that I get along "too well" with his coworkers and colleagues. *eyeroll*
