Yes, directly quoting the singer is ridiculous! I mean, who does that. That would be silly. They're vague pop song lyrics and it does not matter what literal words they use, it's all up in the air for interpretation.

Forgive me, but I think the real problem that people have is that you're kind of being a dick. Given that this is the internet, however, and that sarcasm and condescension are what pass for discourse on the internet, I'm willing to bet that you don't care and/or think that it's justified.
