Notes:

Important: I'm really sorry about this, but I accidentally misclicked and deleted the submission post from last week instead of saving it. Managed to save the first page (25) of secrets, but the rest (about 100 or so) are gone.

If you submitted something last week (Aug 26-Sept 1), please resubmit it here.

The submissions post for next week is below as usual.

Secrets Left to Post: ?? pages, ??? secrets from Secret Submission Post #296.
Secrets Not Posted: [ 0 - broken links ], [ 0 - not!secrets ], [ 0 - not!fandom ], [ 0 - too big ], [ 0 - repeat ].

Re: Random blood giving rant

(Anonymous) 2012-09-07 04:06 am (UTC)(link)
I've been told it's not a good idea if you're feeling sick or have an infection, and on any given day, there's about a 30% chance I will have either noticeable sniffles, a sore throat, an outer ear infection, a minor UTI, or a mildly infected cut. (I don't have health coverage or much disposable income, but don't qualify for any reduced-price care, so most of these, I just treat OTC or wait for them to get better, hence they tend to linger, hence...) And if I'm nervous about doing something I've never done before, the chances of me not feeling great are of course higher.

If I could just walk in on a day when I was feeling fine, I'd probably have done it by now, but where I live you have to make appointments weeks in advance or go to a blood drive (to which you also have to sign up in advance), and I don't want to have to make an appointment and then cancel or worry about giving when I shouldn't or sounding like a hypochondriac or...

I don't know, is that a good reason? Am I being overly-nervous? Should I just donate to the next drive even if I'm feeling kind of sick?

(I'm also just a bit over the weight limit and several of my (heavier) female relatives have been repeatedly turned away for not being able to give enough quickly enough to be useful, but I would probably have at least tried by now anyway, if it wasn't for the 'don't donate if you don't feel well' thing.)
