Notes:

Important: I'm really sorry about this, but I accidentally misclicked and deleted the submission post from last week instead of saving it. Managed to save the first page (25) of secrets, but the rest (about 100 or so) are gone.

If you submitted something last week (Aug 26-Sept 1), please resubmit it here.

The submissions post for next week is below as usual.

Secrets Left to Post: ?? pages, ??? secrets from Secret Submission Post #296.

another job question

(Anonymous) 2012-09-07 04:31 am (UTC)(link)
Seems today's theme is job related!

My question is pretty quick. Is it really that necessary for people to have degrees? I'm all for education, but I'm pretty happy in my low-almost-middle income job but people seem confused that I'm not trying to get degrees or apply for "better" jobs.

If you're happy with what you're doing, and you think you'll be happy with what you're doing in the future (or have other plans to change what you're doing in case you become unhappy), then fuck degrees.

People focus on degrees because more training tends to give you more options to find something that makes you happy, and possibly also more money. But if you're happy with your current situation, then you don't need that.

I hate the whole mentality that you have to get a degree to succeed in life. Or to have a better paying job. All a degree got me is being in debt due to student loans. Ignore the people wondering why you don't have a degree. If you're happy with the job you have than that's great. If you think you'll continue to be happy with it that's also great and there's no need to throw money away at a degree.
