Notes:

Important: I'm really sorry about this, but I accidentally misclicked and deleted the submission post from last week instead of saving it. Managed to save the first page (25) of secrets, but the rest (about 100 or so) are gone.

If you submitted something last week (Aug 26-Sept 1), please resubmit it here.

The submissions post for next week is below as usual.

Secrets Left to Post: ?? pages, ??? secrets from Secret Submission Post #296.
Secrets Not Posted: [ 0 - broken links ], [ 0 - not!secrets ], [ 0 - not!fandom ], [ 0 - too big ], [ 0 - repeat ].
Current Secret Submissions Post: here.
Suggestions, comments, and concerns should go here.

Why stop there? Judge people for not giving away their material possessions as well to those who need them. You don't go the tiny bit out of your way to give spare change to the homeless? Judged. How about going out of their way to help someone move furniture if you see a neighbor moving? Judged! You could spend 30 minutes every month volunteering at a local cancer center but you don't. All you miss out on is some free time. Judged, judged juuuudged.

I find the whole "you could do it but you don't = judged to be lazy and selfish!" mentality to be really dumb.

I think you'd find that *most* people who don't donate, don't donate simply because it doesn't occur to them to do so without a drive coming by - exactly like it doesn't occur to them that they could be doing all these other things for the sake of other people. Some people might be all "lol why should I" and yes they're assholes but "it didn't occur to me" is legitimate a lot of the time. It's not because they're lazy or selfish, it just plain old doesn't occur to them to go out of their way. And many of them *would* donate if it were simple and easy, like drives that stop by office buildings. Would it be nice if they went out of their way? Sure but judging people for not actively seeking ways to help others is silly because honestly everybody is not a saint

This is speaking as somebody who donates every time a drive does come by, for the record.
