Notes:

Important: I'm really sorry about this, but I accidentally misclicked and deleted the submission post from last week instead of saving it. Managed to save the first page (25) of secrets, but the rest (about 100 or so) are gone.

If you submitted something last week (Aug 26-Sept 1), please resubmit it here.

The submissions post for next week is below as usual.

Secrets Left to Post: ?? pages, ??? secrets from Secret Submission Post #296.

On coursework and finals

The majority of the school semester crawled by with little incident. Hyunjae had a habit of “borrowing” me to talk about “classes” during the 7th period-- about 3:10, and keeping me there until about 5:00. Sometimes it had to do with courses, sometimes not. At any rate, I later figured out that she would probably lure me up there so it would appear to other teachers there was someone “on her side”. It wasn't too apparent at first, but what I took for sensitivity was actually a massive persecution complex.

It probably first dawned on me, when Hyunjae didn't have the luxury of stealing me away to the 3rd floor lab. It was being used in the last few weeks for prep for finals and the like. So Hyunjae came into my office to chat with me about something about classes.

I shared the office with three other teachers, a Spanish teacher, a history teacher/homeroom teacher, and another teacher whose discipline I couldn't remember. It was just after the bell had rung, and the Spanish teacher was bustling around the room, grabbing up things she needed for her last class. When she left, the door slammed behind her because of the air pressure differences, as the window was open. Hyunjae had been looking a little cagy, keeping her eyes on the Spanish teacher the whole time. When the door slammed, she jumped, and then looked at me. With some indignation in her tone, she asks, “What's her problem?”

I didn't know what to make of this. It was pretty apparent the Spanish teacher was in a hurry for class, and it didn't make sense Hyunjae would be offended. “I think she was just in a hurry,” I say. The Spanish teacher is a great lady, very nice, and she's never short tempered or anything. Hyunjae's appraisal was bizarre.
