Woah woah woah, one of these things is not like the other one. Blood donation (which, last time I tried, I was told to wait until I was feeling better about myself because it can knock you back. If you were asking me non-anonymously, I probably wouldn't tell you that) is not like bone marrow donation. Bone marrow donation is painful and nasty, which is why people generally do it for a specific person they know.

It's all very well saying that people should just generally go through this painful procedure for strangers, but have you given your spare kidney? Have you given all non-essential possessions and money to feed the less fortunate? Are you living like the Poor Clares, having sold everything you own to help the poor? Do you do fast days, and send the money you would have spent on food to charity?

There's a line, and everyone has their own that they don't cross.

There are two ways to donate bone marrow, one is the painful and horrid one which is the one under general anaesthesia and I understand if you don't want to. But there is another way to donate, which is through apheresis and that's like donating plasma.
