A woman who used to be a friend of my mom's once gave me the most bizarre and offensive reason for not donating that I've ever heard: she once saw several pints of what she took to be blood in a cooler on an international flight. "They take our blood and ship it overseas to foreigners! And ever since, I refuse to have anything to do with the Red Cross!"
