Different Anon:
I can say with confidence that whatever you subscribe to, you should know that death is merely the erasure of the line differentiating your perspective from everything else. If you're an atheist, you know that you'll be decomposed and transformed into raw matter, only to be formed into a million other organic and non-organic things and life forms. If you believe in heaven, your death means you no longer feel the differentiation from God, who not only created everything but IS everything, logically. But, when you lose your differentiation, you'll understand that being a part of the Infinite is so intense that you'll want to differentiate again, just to be limited to one perspective and live as a single entity.

tl;dr
Heaven, heaven is a place, a place where nothing, nothing ever happens...

I know this is a really old conversation, but I was cleaning out my email inbox and really wanted to reply to this comment, in particular.

If you believe in heaven, your death means you no longer feel the differentiation from God

That depends on your perspective and what faith you follow. Most Christians, at least in my experience, do not actually believe that. I don't. I believe (as many Christians do) that we never actually lose our individual identity. We join with God in perfect unity - that doesn't mean we are assimilated into Him, just that we enjoy communion with Him in a perfect way.

Some other faiths might speak of assimilation into a greater being, becoming "one" with an oversoul or deity, even as part of their definition of "heaven", and there are probably some Christians who think that too, but I do not think it is a commonly held belief among Christians.
