Because no one likes Nick except you, I guess. I'm not in Grimm fandom, but I doubt I personally could stomach a fic with him in it if it wasn't a romance with a character I like more. I get enough of Nick's stupid ass in the show.

Oh, yes--rec thread for decent Grimm fic, please. In particular, I'm looking for Monroe/Rosalee or gen.

I haven't gotten into the fandom yet but the impression I've gotten is that lots of the fic is crappy. I'd love to be pointed in the right direction.

I have no experience with the Grimm fandom, but it would be unique if there were LITERALLY nothing else.

It really would be unique if Grimm was litereally nothing but Nick/Monroe shippy fic. But, of course it's not. http://archiveofourown.org/works/506526 Voila, front page casefic gen. 18,000 words of it to boot. It took me literally 30 seconds to find it, most of which involved navigating AO3 to the right fandom.

I agree with this completely, I see a lot of potential in Grimm for some great fic ideas, but everyone just seems way preoccupied with Nick having sex with Monroe or Renard... or Barry/Roddy which, wtf, they were in one episode each and never met, I am constantly mystified by how popular it is.
It's the way of fandom, I know, but it doesn't stop me from wishing it was different. Doesn't help that this is apparently the ONE fandom I've been in where exactly zero of the slash ships interest me. Give me something with Juliette or Adalind (or both) any day.
And yes, I could just write it myself, but I'd kind of like to read some stuff I didn't write.
Also in the face of the last comment I'd like to say that no, OP, it's not just you that likes Nick, I adore him.

I wish someone could explain how Barry/Roddy got so instantly popular. I get shipping characters who have never interacted, but this one is so random. It's not even like they're recurring characters.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who isn't interested in slash for this fandom. I like the het pairings, and well, okay, I'm also interested in femslash for it, which is why I understand shipping characters who have never interacted.

Replying to myself for another stupid thing about Grimm fic: a ridiculous amount of the het fic on AO3 is just gender-swapped Nick/Monroe.

Grimm has become my favorite new show. I love Nick and all the other characters (including Juliette). But I have absolutely no interest in reading slash fic for this show. And I'm a huge slash fan. The canon pairings are good enough for me that I don't need more at this point. I'd read genfic though and you are right there seems to be very little.

Also the maturity level of the writers in this fandom is far below what I'm used to in others. Inane wolf crap mostly. Or Daddy issues with Renard.

This for me too. I don't know why, but this is the first time that I love the show and yet have no interest in reading slash fic about it. Maybe it's because I'm happy with the way things are going in the actual series, so I have no need to see any alternative takes on things. Gen fic would be nice, but I don't mind if there isn't any.

I'd love some plotty gen, too. I'd also like some Nick/Juliette fic that aren't "Nick/Juliette...UNTIL NICK REALIZES HE LOVES MONROE AND CHEATS ON JULIETTE/LEAVES HER". I've found that one far too many times.

What Grimm powers? One of the reasons I found this show so frustratingly dull in it's lack of action was that he didn't have any offensive powers. Just seeing paranormals for what they are. Has he gotten other powers?
