I got into this series apparently way late, and I wanna know everyone's thoughts on things that aren't seme/uke or that poor woobie Lunatic or "X female character is (some misogynist term)". The few active discussions I've come across were exactly that, and it makes me sort of sad as a new fan. :(

So, things you loved? Things you hated? Random thoughts? Favorite fic/vids/art? Favorite communities or places to post fan works? I'd take anything, really, and since there have been secrets about it recently, I know there are at least a few fans kicking around here. :)

Definitely my favourite anime series of the last... like... decade or so, and one of my all time fav series of anything ever. I can't WAIT until the damn blu-rays come out here in the US, I wish they weren't taking forever. It seems like a perfect fit for Toonami so I hope that once they're done fooling around with that streaming... channel... whatever they're doing... it airs on US tv too. I mean seriously, I will kind of be pissed about the missed opportunity if they don't and it doesn't even effect me.

Anyway though I love this damn series and there aren't that many people around to talk to it anymore so if you want to babble with me about it I am much obliged.

I absolutely loved it when it aired! I actually was able to get a friend who isn't really an anime fan to watch it and she loves it too.
If you need awesome fanart, there are few artists on tumblr that did T&B stuff. Another place is PIXIV where if you find a tag for whatever you want.
I noticed the fandom die down just a little after it ended last year but hopefully with it coming over to the US and the movies will bring some more stuff.

I just finished the fifth episode and I'm loving it. I actually watched the first ep last year but it did nothing for me and I'm surprised at how much I love it.

Yeah, I watched the first six episodes and it didn't click for me. Then I picked it up again out of boredom, tried again, and suddenly it was amazing. I don't know what happened. :)

I'm surprised to see this comment because I just got through watching T&B a couple days ago myself! YAY!

Do you have favorite characters? I'm going to be terribly unoriginal and just say that I fucking ADORE Kotetsu and I think he was one of the major reasons I enjoyed the anime so much. Barnaby turns out to be pretty cool too, but Kotetsu is my man. I love that he's middle-aged and has a daughter as well! He's such a fun, unique guy for a title character. Actually, I like all of the heroes a lot. I didn't expect to like the cast this much. Well...except Lunatic tbh; I don't dislike him, but I care less about him than practically everyone else other than Maverick.

Going to be terribly unoriginal again and say I just loved Kotetsu and Barnaby's evolving relationship, and the strong sense of togetherness that had formed between them by the end of the season. God, I never thought there would be so many tears watching this cracky thing.

Also, the premise is pretty damn neat itself, and I found the series on a whole to be well executed. I haven't enjoyed a show this much in a lonnnnnnng time. I'm really looking forward to the movies!

I can't agree with this comment enough. I freaking LOVED Kotetsu. The other characters were really awesome, too (even though it feels like they got pushed to the side after the whole Jake-Kriem debacle).

Everyone other than Kotetsu and Barnaby did get wayyyyy less screen time, but I figured that was normal since those two are the main characters, and that tends to be the way of anime. (And most series' in general, tbh.)

I was pleased that most the secondary characters got their own episodes though, so they weren't completely ignored! It was also neat how even when they weren't focused on, you could still pick things up about their relationships and personalities.

And Kotetsu is just freaking adorable. I want a Kotetsu.

Barnaby is probably my overall favorite character, which is funny, because I spent the first half of the series going BARNABY JUST LET HIM HELP YOU (then again, the second half was KOTETSU JUST TELL HIM THE TRUTH, so maybe that outweighed the first parts?) Kotetsu is probably my favorite character type though because he actually has a lot of relate-able struggles while still managing to be awesome. If I had to rank characters, it would probably be Barnaby, Kotetsu, and then Sky High as my top favs. :)

I loved how clever the premise was, and just how much the creators hid in the background! I love that the background profiles for criminals and such were readable, and that the heroes seemed to represent multiple nations! I just thought the entire thing was handled so well, and it made my little bonus-feature-seeking-geek heart so happy. XD

I certainly hope the movies will make the fandom boom, or at least wake up. :) Also, I really, really want the DVDs to be released already--it would probably help a lot. As it is, I'm just going to be writing fic and posting it...somewhere.

Barnaby is frustrating, is he not? I do like him, very much so, and even when upset that he just won't play nice he's horribly entertaining. Strangely enough, his dickish tendencies grew on me (though I still enjoyed his and Kotetsu's relationship once they stopped much of their fighting). That last arc where Kotetsu is silent about -that- was difficult to watch. Don't let secrets tear you apart! JUST BE HONEST!

That's probably my favorite thing about Kotetsu! Sky High is at the top of my list as well! He's so wholesome, and well meaning.

Don't lose faith! If anything can make the fandom more active again, it's the movies. Plus, if the internet is correct (lol, let me have my dreams!), it seems there might be a possibility of a second season sometime in the future? So let's keep our fingers crossed! And mmm, DVDs. Haven't even researched those myself, but I would like owning those... And post your fic on Ao3, at least? IDK how you feel about fanfiction.net but they probably have a T&B section too. There's also that LJ comm. :)

I actually find Barnaby really funny, because Kotetsu? When he's in the right mindset, he can make an inspiring, heartfelt speech that will make even Lunatic pause. Barnaby, on the other hand, is a great public speaker, right up until the moment he's not. It's an oddly specific sort of social fail, I think. :)

The last arc, yeah--he didn't tell Kaede either, and that was probably the most frustrating part. Does Kotetsu have no friends (who he also wouldn't tell)? He has bigger communication problems than were really necessary for the plot, I think (which is something that was also in the first arc, so good on the creators for carrying that over.)

If/when I write fic, I'll definitely get it on livejournal and try to get it on AO3. Knowing that people are still out there and reading fic for this fandom makes it easier to keep motivated, too, so thanks for that. :)

Yea, you're right about that; Kotetsu has so much heart and Barnaby...not in front of other people, if he can help it.

I was surprised when I first realize his daughter didn't know he was a hero! That's a huge thing to hide, and the sort of thing you would think one would find out about, even by accident. That wasn't the best idea Kotetsu ever had, for sure. And from what the anime shown I was under the impression he didn't have anyone other than his family and fellow heroes; of course there's his former manager too, but...he's a pretty lonely fellow, honestly. Maybe he got so used to keeping his personal life to himself (after all, everyone but Antonio didn't know he had a wife and kid until sometime mid-series) that he found it hard to speak up about it. (Which isn't a good excuse, but might be part of his issue.)

NP! I'm really looking forward to finding some good fic, and if we're anything to go by, more people are getting into the series every day.

Kotetsu/Barnaby is one of my least favorite pairings. Kotetsu is full of good intentions, but isn't actually a good father and needs to get his own house in order before he could be a good romantic partner someone as needy as Barnaby. I still love Kotetsu, he's a great character, but I didn't love Barnaby until I heard the drama cds. He's such a dick! It's hilarious!

There are so many things about this show. I love how the architecture of Sternbild makes no sense, I love how useless Antonio and Ivan's powers are, and I love Agnes.

I wouldn't say either of their powers were useless-- Antonio's certainly come in handy all the time, and Ivan's *would* probably be the most useful ever if they weren't living in a superheroes-are-famous kind of world. He'd be an awesome villain with that power.

I meant "useless" for Hero TV. Antonio has armor, so he doesn't need to use his power, and Kotetsu doesn't even know what Origami Cyclone can do until episode 8 and this is after at least a year of competing against each other.
