I'm actually impressed I'm not the only person still considering writing a HP fic, period. Seriously, I feel like fandom's pretty much dead except exchange stuff... so glad to see I'm not alone, regardless of what you want to write. :)

Are you insane? Have you seen Sycophant Hex's fiction stats? They generate at least 6 new chapters/stories a week on Ashwinder alone. And the other boards are averaging 2 to 5 new stories/chapters a week.

Then there's Petulant Poetess, while they've got a rather large queue, they average about 5 to 7 new chapters/stories a week as well.

I just wrote a massive HP fic with my friend and posted it. There are 2 more on the way and 2 more in the pipeline... HP fandom is not dead.
