Definitely. The police in S. Korea just dgaf, they're more there for... appearance's sake? It's weird. I mean, Korea doesn't have much in the way of crime, anyway, so that's part of it. Social control is more their thing.

The only other thing I could have done was call my landlord, and while he would have shown up, it would have been such a bad idea. :( That guy was so damn intrusive.
