Re: Have you ever been really excited for something
I think the problem was that JKR started the books as some kind of wish-fulfillment thing. I mean, she was un-employed, divorced and had a kid to feed and had no idea how to do that. She kind of wrote her own type of Cinderella story and dreamed of a better life. Which she got - over the course of the series the books became insanely popular, she made millions, re-married and had more kids - and all her old sorrows went away.
And it's only natural that with her new life came a shift of priorities, too. So she lost interest in her original story and started changing things (first in OotP, as she said in one of her interviews), and had to keep changing more because of that. And that's how we got HBP and DH.
Re: Have you ever been really excited for something
Mind you, the cutesy way the epilogue was written was still cheesy as hell.
Re: Have you ever been really excited for something
It was the whole idea about marriage and kids being the ultimate reward for all the hardships in life that annoyed me to no end. Yes, I know that for Harry it's certainly true, because he kept wishing for a real family over the course of all the seven books. I can totally be happy with that.
But extending that view to the whole cast? Going so far as saying that Teddy was only finally "really" part of the family because of marrying Victoire? Cementing that view by constantly talking about who ended up married to whom in several interviews? No, thanks. I don't care for authors trying to impose their opinions on the value of family/kids/marriage at every opportune moment.
That's what made me angry at the "all is well" thing, what made me stay away from all further interviews, and what makes me stay away now from all kinds of author sites/actor interviews/etc in my current fandoms.
