I don't know the fandom, but... why is wank a given? it's not like the op posted something controversial.

It's Loki from the Avengers. His existence causes wank to spontaneously erupt into existence from the ether, even if the secret is "he makes me binge on bananas".

Maybe this secret is, in fact, a scientific experiment designed to test the wank-creating properties of Loki by making a completely innocuous secret about him to see what happens.

That's my theory.

Excerpt from 'The Loki Effect' (unfinished)

Introduction
... Conversations regarding the characterization of Loki regularly break down into derisive back-and-forths and sarcasm regarding the intelligence of any poster who expresses an opinion opposite that of the replying commenter. This is commonly referred to as "wank." The character of Loki generates many instances of wank in popular fandom places, where just the mention of him can reignite the debate regarding, mainly, his motives or state of mind in "The Avengers"...

Methods
To test the hypothesis that the introduction of anything featuring Loki to fandom spaces results in "wank," a submission to a well trafficked panfandom community, Fandom Secrets, was made. A "secret" regarding Loki was crafted using a random word generator. The words selected were "banana" and "wages." A "secret" was developed that emphasized a non-sexual relation between bananas and Loki in the OP's (original poster, or creator of the secret) mind resulting in the spending half their wages on bananas. 

The wank response to the secret will be measured by comment count, off-topic comments regarding Loki's characterization or motives and any instances of debate.
