Artist claims

(Anonymous) 2012-09-10 11:16 pm (UTC)(link)
I hate it when Big Bangs or the sort don't screen the artist/author claiming. It always feels like middle school to me, when teams would be picked in sports and the non-fit and unpopular kids got picked last.

And it doesn't even matter whether why work is being claimed or if I'm doing the claiming. No matter how nice the mods have been up to that point, if they don't screen the claiming part I lose a bit of respect for them. :/

This is what I liked about the last big bang I did, authors commented with their summary, which were screened, and then the summaries (sans authors) were posted so the artists could choose based on plot interest and not 'playground interest' of "I want to draw for this author!" which was nice for someone like me who isn't a very big name in the fandom because I don't often write super popular pairings or crosspost all over. XD

I'm glad it worked out for you, anon! Personally...that wasn't the way my big bang went. It was a pretty well-known fact that the BNF artists/authors knew each other, so when the time came for screened prompt claiming, it didn't help. BNF!authors got BNF!artists.

Not even screening works sometimes.

Weird, every bang I've been in has always been screened. Even the reverse bangs.

Do you mean screening the author names (the person whose work is going to be chosen) or screening the picks (screening the comments that say, 'My first choice is a, my second e, my third b')? Or both?

Late, but I meant screening the picks. I've thankfully never been in a bang that didn't screen the author's names. I didn't even know those existed! D:

Yeah, according to the comments I got your opinion wrong. I thought you meant the mods have to do some sort of a quality control...

Well, in every big bang I've been in the author names were always hidden and only the artist got the author's real name before the reveal.
