And now for some reason I don't even see the button anymore, so maybe as someone said, it's only for paid users.

I looked it up in my notification page, I had only one comment tracking left, I deleted it... and I still can't see the "track this" button anymore.
But as I said, the way I remember, it only allowed you (at least for free user) to track the comments on the entire post, not a separate thread. For a community as active as f!s, it just means you'll be clogged with comments in your mailbox.

Free users can only track posts, paid users can track threads.

But yeah, as a free user, it leads you to a page where you only choice is to track the whole post. Do not want.
