See, that's the beauty part of it. CP deals really WELL with the 'captured slave' trope in a way that is NOT "OMG, I am teh captured slave and I lurves teh healing cock and teh stockholmz syndrome, yesyesyes I do!" In fact, it's pretty much the opposite of that trope. If rape is a trigger, I can tell you that while there is a mess of non-con in the world around the main characters, their relationship is surprisingly non-rapey, which is actually a plot point.

I read it the other day and it gave me serious novel hangover in the best way. I dunno if it's the best m/m original out there, 'cause I usually don't read those much. But it sure is -- by FAR -- the best one I've read.

In this scenario, I believe it is referred to as Cockholm Syndrome.

I'll definitely stay away; rape doesn't trigger me, but there are plenty of excellent M/M fantasy books out there that don't use it, effectively or otherwise, and I prefer no to read it.

For an excellent twist on the 'arrogant prince/captured warrior as his slave', I quite liked Counterpoint (and its sequel) by Rachel Haimowitz.
