I've been doing fandom-y stuff since I was 8 (I'm 24 now) and I'm STILL squicked out by RPF. And I was even in the LOTR fandom. So...yeah.

I mean, I try to ignore it rather than say something, but it still feels like digging around in someone's personal life way too much to me for me to be comfortable with it.

How did you come out of that unscathed? It took me writing a Billy/Dom drabble on the spur of the moment to realize maybe I'm kinda sorta possibly into RPS, perhaps.

Well, my main haunt in the LOTR fandom was a Yahoo! group called Christian Tolkien Fans, and we didn't seem to have any RPF fans in the group (probably because we didn't have any open slash fans), so that was part of it. And when I encountered that sort of stuff on fanfic.net I'd just go "oh, weird!" and pass on by it, I think.
