I completely agree! This took me a while to realize, but I never liked pure m/m romances because in real life, people have things to do besides fall in love. Hell, I don't even read het romances unless they come highly recommended. My favourite types of books are always ones with a strong non-romance plot and a romantic subplot, which is why gay fantasies/mysteries seemed especially attractive to me. And CP. Good lord, CP. I think even if Damen and Laurent were platonic, I'd still read CP for the court intrigue, for the world, and for the dynamics between the two male leads.
