Then grow a pair and write, and be brave enough to face criticism when it comes and acknowledge the mistakes you make!

Saying, OMG THE MEAN POC WILL YELL AT ME IF I DO IT WRONG SO I CAN'T WRITE POC CHARACTERS EVAR is a coward's reaction. Because clearly, it's better to write all white, middle-class, straight, able-bodied people and perpetuate systems of violence and oppression and invisibility than it is to try to do something with your art and craft. Clearly. Obviously, the answer is to put your fingers in your ears and blame the mean POC who want to be seen in media as people, not as stereotypes or afterthoughts, for your unwillingness to take a risk because someone might not like it. And, worse still, they might criticise you. Heavens! Better not write anything at all, lest someone doesn't like it!

If that's your idea of having the drive to be an author, and to be one with some sensitivity, then by God, you are doing it wrong.
