I have done this. Tbh half the reason I participate in fandom is for little sparks of meaningless validation. The entire thing is a guilty pleasure through and through.

You want to know what's worse, OP? I once asked for something similar to what I write to see if anyone would rec anything of mine. When no one did, I commented with a sock account reccing it myself.

The biggest secret? Seeing the recc there made me feel just as good as if someone else actually had done it.

Idk. It doesn't seem like it'd really feel the same when you are the one who instigated. That's the patheticness coming through. The best validation is from being recognized completely independently of your actions. Who knows. Maybe it'll happen some day.
