I haven't seen the movie, but I have read the book. John Coffey was the big, stupid guy with magical(?) healing powers, right?

Maybe I'll watch it sometime. Is it really gorey (as I recall, the book was, somewhat)?

There's some implied gore/squick in the movie, but it's played down.

I know this isn't quite what anon was asking, but I was really startled by the mention of child rape. Just figured a warning was in order.

Same anon as above, it's not too bad for the most but THAT execution is pretty hard going. I was watching it for the first time with my sister at about 2am years ago and both our jaws were hanging open, plus neither of us could sleep once the film had finished cos of that scene and heck the film in general being sad/upsetting.
