I can't stand Stanton Parrish. There's a few reasons, though the main one is: They HAD an interesting villain in Anna--an autistic woman who needed a a special device to talk, and who developed a relationship with Gary, one of the main good guys (and who's also autistic). And what did they do? They killed her off and replaced her with a neurotypical male character. Hell, they didn't even replace her with another WOMAN, no it was a man. A White man who's ~~mutant power~~ Alpha ability is... not dying. Wow. Are they aware that this exact same character has been done? RECENTLY? His name was Adam, and he was a villain on Heroes. And I seem to recall that he was a super-human supremacist, as well. This type of character shows up in comics occasionally, as well (Marvel's Apocalypse, DC's Vandal Savage).

Why did they get rid of an interesting character, only to replace her with a character type that has been done before? Worse, why did they get rid of a female character with a mental condition only to replace her with a normal White guy? I might not dislike Parrish as much if he'd been the bad guy all along, but the fact that he replaced Anna just pisses me right the fuck off.

Anna was a much better choice for a villain. I liked that everyone fell for the assumption that she was helpless when in fact she was wildly formidable. I enjoyed her interaction and relationship with Gary. I hated that they killed her off.

I can't really get into this season at all. Aside from the Stanton Parrish storyline, I've lost all respect for Nina, I'm frustrated with the watering down of the main characters, and Dr. Rosen's wimping out. The only character I still like is Gary but that might be because I liked the actor on Bones and really loved Gary from the beginning of Alphas.

I'm not sure that I am going to stay with the show, all things considered.

Yeah, this season hasn't done anything for me, either...

Oh, man... don't even get me started on Nina. Just... [facepalm]
