Re: anon for obvious reasons

I'm the pro-lifer that commented above. My mother had a miscarriage before she had me (so soon before that I wouldn't have been conceived if she hadn't, actually). Both her and I see it as a tragic loss of a young life, but it wasn't anyone's fault. Sometimes death happens.

The egg isn't fertilized so no, it's not a "suicide" or anything as dramatic as that. I'm not sure exactly when life begins, but it certainly wouldn't be before the egg's even fertile, that's asinine. I don't know anyone that's prolife that would treat it as otherwise.

It might help to actually talk to people about the positions they have other than make stupid assumptions, you know. (And yes, I know people on my side do this, too, and it makes me just as pissed off when they do, too.)

My comment was a joke and had little to do with how I feel about the debate.

well, it was a shitty joke.

Okay? Would you like a serious response then?

Getting pregnant could kill me. I abstain from sex (though I don't believe I should have to) but I fear being raped for these reasons.

Your pro life stance makes me afraid to lead a "normal" life. I don't care if you don't agree with abortion, but you're putting other women's lives at risk by believing you have the right to take away their choice.

Being pro life doesn't stop people from having abortions, it stops people from having the option of safe abortions. It leads desperate women to go to desperate measures, killing not only what you consider to be a baby, but that woman as well.

well, if they want to kill themselves to kill their baby I guess that would be their choice.

I will not support the "right" to choose to kill an innocent. this type of scenario would be seen as horrific in any other circumstance. the only reason it's okay in this one is because you can't actively see the fetus so you can dehumanize it.

Actually, there are people who would launch an investigation into every spontaneous abortion (that's a miscarriage - there is no medical term like that) to determine if it's the woman's fault. And who have tried to make it legal to do so.

So you're right, it's a shitty joke - but OP Commenter is not the one playing it, unfortunately.
