MOVING PICTURES HOW DO THEY WORK, also cats, also spider.

Today's post brought to you by... someone who likes cats and who is very sleepy, which is why this is just full of sleepy cats. Why? Because I like cats and I think I may be a wee bit too tired to brain, that's why.

Before I go on to the daily spiders, though, here's a game link for you. The short version is- well, you're a spider! Make a web, catch some flies, eat some flies, catch bigger flies, eat bigger flies, and so on. It can actually get pretty intense. How far in can you get?

Anyway, there was a request for orbweavers, so here goes! I've featured ones like the spiny orb-wevear and the lovely A. aurantia, but more definitely isn't a problem. This beauty is related to A. aurantia and happens to be in the same family, even if it's web isn't the same. It's Argiope keyserlingi, and it's an Australian spider. Recognizable both for its distinctive web and the brightly coloured marks on its back, these spiders are extremely formidable enemies... to bugs, flies, and basically everything that's very annoying about the summer nights that I do belive are coming to an end for all of us who are up in the Northern hemispehre.

SLEEPY BABIES.

And St Andrew's Cross! One of the few spiders I've never actually had a problem with.

Those spiders are really pretty! I've been squeeing over their northern cousins, Argiope bruennichi, quite a bit during the last couple of months.

Thank you for the link to the game (although I may become slightly addicted...)!
