(Anonymous) 2012-09-13 02:33 am (UTC)(link)Interesting.
Re: DA
(Anonymous) 2012-09-13 02:47 am (UTC)(link)I'll admit, this is probably colored by own experiences a bit, but people don't tend to bring up autism unless there's a reason to bring it up - and in fandom that's usually 'You can't blame me! I have autism so I didn't know it was wrong to do it!' Plus 'I don't believe people who say it on the internet' =/= 'I don't believe it anywhere, ever!'
Re: DA
(Anonymous) 2012-09-13 02:55 am (UTC)(link)Thank you. I tend to be skeptical of anybody who offers that much unwarranted TMI to complete strangers, and not just in regards to autism. Anybody who pulls the "I have XYZ Disorder, stop calling me out on my shit!" card gets the side-eye from me, no matter what XYZ Disorder is.
Re: DA
(Anonymous) 2012-09-13 03:03 am (UTC)(link)This is exactly the same thing as dudes in gaming saying they won't believe you're a girl until you show your tits because hey, no girls on the internet or hey, all "girls" I've talked to have really just guys using that as a ploy to get free shit from guys.
I mean this person in OPs story sounds like a jerk, but to extrapolate from that to say they'll never believer anyone ever who says they have autism? That's just dumb.

Re: DA
It's easy to hide behind a handle and SAY you have it when you don't. It's WAY harder to hide that IRL. So, you can fuck off now.
Re: DA
For example, we're on the internet right now. Say I bring up my Asperger's in this discussion. It's not being used as an excuse for anything. Does OP believe me? Nope! It's on the internet! Clearly I'm lying and just want attention because real people never mention it ever and rah rah blah blah blah.
Yes, it's easy to hide behind and fake a condition. That doesn't mean everyone is lying about it.
Re: DA
(Anonymous) 2012-09-13 02:13 pm (UTC)(link)Re: DA
Don't believe you either. Because you're being an ass trying so hard to make me believe EVERYONE who says they have it on the internet has it. Sorry, but no.
If I ever meet you IRL and can see the signs? Then I'll believe you. Until then? Nope. Can't prove it over the 'net just by words alone. So nope. And I will continue to do so since this epidemic of Aspies started up over the last year or so here on the net.
Also, agree with the above nonny.
Re: DA
(Anonymous) 2012-09-13 06:22 pm (UTC)(link)Wow, better to be rude to and deny the valid identity of people to their face than be the occasional sucker, AMIRITE? Your reasoning is solid if selfish and petty and hurtful. I don't have a dog in this fight but your comment strikes me as extreme navel-gazing. But it's okay! Cos "aspies" don't have the power - you do! There are no consequences for you except being called a douche! Rock on!
Re: DA
(Anonymous) 2012-09-13 06:27 pm (UTC)(link)Re: DA
Oh nonny!! you make me laugh so much!!
Alos....laughing at everyone bypassing one key phrase in this ENTIRE debate.
I DON'T BELIEVE PEOPL ON THE INTERNET WHO SAY THEY HAVE AUTISM/DISORDER.
IRL? Sure!!! If I know them and they are comfortable enough to say that they do, but for the most part, that's none of my business unless, for whatever reason, it becomes my business.
Ta ta~
Re: DA
not a homophobeon the spectrum is abigotliar! There are no exceptions!I am at least glad to see that I didn't misread and you do, in fact, fully agree with OP. Rock on with your
bigotbad self, bb.Re: DA

(Anonymous) 2012-09-14 01:14 am (UTC)(link)Re: DA
Yep, you caught me.
*slow claps*
Go. Go have a nice drink of that shit tasting wine you have that comes out of the high horse's ass you rode in on!!
Re: DA
You are much more creative with the insults than curseangel though, so at least you've got something going for you.
Re: DA
That is what I believe the OP of the original secret meant and what a lot of people seem to be missing.
Re: DA
I'm happy to disagree with them either way, because there is no actual proof either way when a person says they're on the spectrum, and while they could easily be lying/misdiagnosed, the internet is such an Aspie paradise that it's just as likely to be true. And since you shouldn't treat them differently regardless, it's kind of a moot point, and going "WELL I DON'T BELIEVE YOU HAHA!" and talking about how you'd have to meet them IRL to personally diagnose them before they're allowed to talk about being an Aspie just comes off as dickish.
Re: DA
No, you're just a bitter asshole who wants to believe that OP are also a bitter asshole when there is not proof either way to prove you're right, or me right. But I choose to be more positive about it than you. And that's your problem.
*never said she wasn't a dick*
Re: DA
For that matter, LMAO, since when are you being positive? Starting a conversation with "no, you're wrong, you can fuck off now" is not positive, bb.
Not only are you not addressing my point, you're making no sense while doing so.
ETA: Phone, I wasn't done typing that comment, ffffff I cannot into touch screens
