I was doing homework in my dorm's lounge when some people came in and were gossiping, and some girl said very loudly and maliciously, "oh yeah, he's a fucking faggot." I go to school in the Northwest. I have never heard anyone speak like this (in person) before and I'm really shocked actually. I was so disgusted that I bolted. I don't think I'll be doing homework in the lounge when it's occupied anymore. I don't know why, but I just had a really visceral reaction and I actually feel really sick now. I was just starting to feel safe here after moving from the Midwest where I constantly hear thinly veiled homophobia, and then I'm hit with this. I'm just so disappointed. I know there are people like that everywhere, but it still makes me sick.

That word grates on my nerves so much that if I hear that word come out from someone's mouth i'd think probably never speak to them (unless I have to).
