Not-Loki things I have seen people complain about:

Superhusbands
Clint/Coulson being a huge ship
Natasha/Pepper/Jane/Darcy not being well-written characters

Also there's the occasional "Is Thor/Loki incest or pseudoincest" wank, which technically involves Loki but doesn't really focus on his characterization the way most Loki-related wank does.

I think there's more Loki wank because it doesn't get too personal or touch upon SJ issues in the same way other topics sometimes do. Like, it's not uncommon to hear C/C complainers bring up ATG and how it's problematic, and any wank about a female character's portrayal is going to get pretty heated. The worst thing about Loki wank is the armchair psychoanalysis that goes on. (Loki apologists = insecure teenagers projecting their ~issues!~, Loki haters = unable to comprehend complexity or nuance!) Which is stupid, but not as troubling as stuff that comes up with other wanks.

So I guess I'd rather see mountains of Loki wank over...almost anything else. Huh.

So basically the wank in Avengers fandom is centered around legitimate concerns about equality (don't get me started on fandom's treatment of Nick) unless it's about Loki.

You know what? I'm kind of okay with that. At least people are taking a closer look at things that could be problematic.

...pretty much!

And to be fair, I haven't seen many arguments devolve into wank. Like if someone points out that Natasha's portrayal has some problematic aspects (which is especially true in IM2) people don't instantly assume troll or dismiss that opinion as stupid. Instead of a wankfest there are genuine discussions, for the most part.

Loki stuff is the only thing that people get consistently wanky over, at least in my admittedly limited experience.

That's been my experience too, actually. I think the misunderstanding around this is the definition of wank. To some people any disagreement on a topic can be wank (and it sometimes is, obviously) but to me, it means digging your heels on a silly point and not budging, as you say.

Honestly most of the discussions I've had re: Natasha's protrayal in IM2 (which... yikes, yeah. No thanks) or fandom's tendency to ignore or paint Nick Fury as a bigger villain that Loki and Thanos combined (which... ew. That's just... ew.) have been relatively reasonable. But if Loki's name comes up, the chaos reigns. lol

Oh please, when has fandom ever been concerned about equality? The SJ types will continue to preach among themselves in a big circle jerk while the ATG types will continue to ignore everything to write their 100,000 coffee shop AUs. Each side will continue to feel morally superior to the other side without ever compromising. Case in point: this wank.

Fandom in general? Rarely. SJWs will pick at whatever the cause de jour is, yes. But there are people legitimating discussing the topics at hand that aren't just in it for the circle jerk or ass pats.

I get being cynical about this stuff, but it is okay to spot the problems with stuff you like and discuss those problems without it being wanky or self-important.
