They're music videos, only a few minutes long. That is an incredibly short amount of time to convey a lot of information. If it weren't a music video, just a "mini-movie/TV episode", a 3-5 minute video on long-term life stress, bullying, and abuse would come across as trite. There's a reason why all the good TV shows spread out such related storylines across multiple episodes - it's long and complicated, and if you're going to tell the whole story you need a long time to do it.
So the music videos don't tell the whole story. They only tell little parts of the story and use the music to imply the rest of it. You can't hold up a short music video to the same storytelling standards as a movie or TV show with that kind of pressure and time frame. It would be like trying to judge a one-shot by the standards you use to critique a novel.
