Personally, I like it because it is seeing Sherlock at the recovering addict angle which is often overlooked. I find that intriguing. House comes close but he never really quit. Just went off a few time but immediately went back on. I want to see a cold turkey Sherlock.

I have no idea, but that's part of why I read speculative fiction. At least there, people are acting like teenagers in space or there are unicorns and elves or something.

Yeah, I don't think the thought of Castiel having booty calls ever came across Jimmy's mind when he allowed Castiel to possess him in order for the Angel to do "The Lord's work."

You're bang on with the sexism in it. "Women are fine as long as they don't act too 'girlish.' What's girlish? Whatever I don't like."

I mean, it's not like it's the one show on earth. If I want a better done story I'll go watch/read that one, but this one does have great art.

Re: what does "YANA" mean?

YANA = You are not alone.

Urban dictionary is your friend.

And now I'm in a bit of a tiff over the nature of informed consent concerning angels possessing humans. Ah fandom, never change!

OT but I now have a new euphemism for sex. :D

Re: Dildo or vibrator?

[personal profile] lunabee34 2012-09-16 02:35 am (UTC)(link)
That's a myth. :) Immediately following using a vibrator you may feel a loss of sensitivity. It's totally temporary.

exactly. And what titles are *always* the ones being railed against by anti-YA folks? The ones aimed at girls. The ones that appeal to boys are somehow elevated, but if it's in the female demographic, especially with female main characters, it's going to be picked apart mercilessly and dragged through the mud.

I'm not saying that all these popular series are well-written or even very good, but the criticism they receive so often reeks of "only a GIRL would like something this stupid" that it makes me sick.

I don't think that she's a particularly good actress, but I certainly can't fault her rationality. A BA/BSc doesn't provide a guaranteed financial return and can be undertaken at any time during a person's lifespan (providing that they have the money to pay for it). The offers of acting and modelling jobs she's accepting will have a guaranteed financial return and are likely to only last as long as her looks.

That, pretty much.

(And anyone who doesn't see a difference between Twilight and The Hunger Games is a fucking idiot. I don't mind people who don't like love triangles and dislike both series, but the way people run them together is just... no. THG has a love triangle in it. I will even grant that it's an incredibly annoying one. But it's about much more than that. What about the unflinchingly realistic depictions of PTSD -- and not just "this one guy who's messed up from the war", but almost everyone? That doesn't matter because an annoying love triangle means it's just like Twilight? WHUT.)

(Sorry, that got long and off-topic.)

(Anonymous) 2012-09-16 02:42 am (UTC)(link)
...they should, if they want to make a decent argument? Facts matter in these sorts of situations.

I'm so sorry, Anon. *hugs*

Story:

My cat Electra is about 13. Our friends had an outside cat named Miss Kitty that they found hanging around their apartment complex. They started feeding her, and Miss Kitty got pregnant. Electra was the runt of the litter. When we brought her home her head was three times the size of her body. I'm pretty sure poor Lecters is brain damaged although it has not affected her whatsoever in the sweetness department. We got Miss Kitty fixed and she stayed with our friends, but Electra came home with us. She is neurotic and loves to lick people; her favorite thing to do is get in a woman's lap and head butt her breasts. She also used to spend a fair amount of time literally licking the carpet, so we're convinced she's a lesbi-kitty. I'm petting her now and she makes me very, very happy. I hope you can find some peace like that, Anon.

Bad hair is probably what turned them evil. Think of all the lives that could have been saved if they'd just been given Redkin hair products?

Parasol Protectorate series.

Set in the an AU Victorian steam punk era, the supernatural is real. Fun, fun, fun, fun.
