Same here! I think that's the goal of most writers - to really impact their readers emotionally, to write something that really lingers on in someone's heart after they've finished it. It's brilliant but hard to do.

I guess it's since there's always that sort of overhanging cloud that's can be like, "Oh... you're not a published writer yet; how can you compare yourself to professionals?," together with the whole all-fanfic-is-guilty-pleasure-trash mindset that both fandom and non-fandom people can have sometimes.

Like it shouldn't be a secret and I highly doubt there are any authors out there who don't want to emotionally impact their readers, but - in certain fandoms and certain circles - I could definitely see someone saying "Oh, I want my books to have the same emotional impact that [specific example] did" and someone responding along the lines of "what are you talking about; you could never hope to be that good/hahahaha you honestly think that you're on their level? get over yourself!"

Stupid, yes. But I could see it happening.

I think this is awesome. That's a good desire to have as a writer, to be able to affect your readers that way.
