Huh, never heard of them but I've met plenty of assholeish cosplayers. It makes me sad because I love the idea of cosplay and working on costumes, but some people just seem to forget that it's supposed to be fun. And I include in that the idiots putting on blackface to dress as Korra or Anthy- newsflash, if it's just fun for you and terribly upsetting and offensive to everybody else, it ain't a nice thing to do, sunshine.

I'm sure we all want to resurrect the korra copslay thing itself here but, and I ask this in all sincerity... isn't that kind of a mixed message? I mean, are you doing it for yourself or for others?

Also, I seem to recall most of the time it's people tanning. I don't think I've actually seen any instances of people literally trying to blackface or use off-color makeup to that effect.

If I'm wrong on this... I imagine it'd look rather horrible. And wnat to see pics!

But I don't think getting some sun to make the costume a tad more accurate is so bad.

I know there was at least one person who used make up to achieve the effect, but it didn't look that bad?

Though I think what the OC is getting at is that there are places where doing that is really offensive because of historical/cultural reasons to use blackface. It's kind of like using the n-word. Even if you're using it in something you're 'doing for yourself', depending on where you are, you might very well be hitting on racial issues that still have an impact.

So, I guess the best way to put it is: Do it for yourself, but respect the cultural issues where you're at. [At least, that's what I'm assuming they're getting at]

All I know about these people is their Avengers cosplay group/youtube show/panel thing which is awful but idk who's going to get this, you should have put a picture or something

My old cosplay group won a few skits and we were thrilled, but we never got big heads about it. We just had fun.

Well it's not unheard of that cons ship in famous cosplayers, but those that get invited usually don't have to beg for it ;D

This, having well-known cosplayers as guests is actually a fairly standard order of business for a lot of cons.

I totally agree with this. I used to like them way back in their kingdom hearts days- but everybody was all ; OMFGH THEIRE SO AMAZOINGSVGH OMGGG. They're extremely over-rated, and they think themselves to be far better than they're worth.

Also, they got rid of the only person I actually liked from the group long before today, so I stopped liking them almost instantaneously after i discovered them.
