You guys, I was without a laptop for a week because my old one finally crapped out on me. And now I've got this beauty in my lap, and I'm so excited, I just had to share with people how would understand. :)

Luckily, I knew my laptop was going to die soon, so I saved all 900 of my gifs to a flashdrive. The thing died two days later. My gifs were the first thing I put on the new computer. :)

Well not literally 900. I was exagerating by about six hundred. Sorry to lead you on. But I organize everything alphabetically by show/movie/comic, character(s), and quote/expression/characteristic/emotion, and even sometimes each character has their own folder and their gifs are also alphabetized by show/movie/comic, then quote/expression/characteristic/emotion. Everything is in its place.

I only sort by fandom, animals, & real life stuff and then have a "reaction" gif folder with it's own subfolders that have a combination of the above three.

I keep meaning to sort them more specifically but it doesn't seem to matter as I always find what I'm looking for because I can usually remember what I named it. :)

I love getting a new laptop, feeling it up and loving the specs. The fresh tech smell is even better than new school supplies smell! ♥

But then a couple months later it's old and not good enough for me anymore and I start lusting after other laptops or fantasizing about building the desktop mistress that I keep in my bedroom because I can't drag it to class or the library :(

I mean, YEAH! NEW LAPTOP!

I'm the complete opposite. I get a new laptop and we shuffle around each other awkwardly until we build up a rapport and I feel comfortable airing my dirty laundry, clogging up the bookmarks and folders, slapping stickers on, and just doing stupid stuff with it.

Of course I try to prolong the inevitable and sob and sulk when I need a new one. The one I'm on is very much on its lasts legs and I'm still denying it.

"I totally don't need to watch videos or download pdfs."

"Who needs speakers? They were a very silly invention."

"You don't want to go online today? Me neither."

"You've decided you aren't going to display the entire screen today? Sounds lovely."

"Nah, it's fine I didn't need anything in that folder you decided to delete."

"Nah, I don't need to click on anything. Go ahead and take a break."

I get a clench of anxiety in my stomach when I think of starting over with a new laptop.

Though, yeah, when I was writing out those examples they really seemed less and less like "minor" inconveniences and more like WTF is wrong with you?s

I'm the exact same way. But I think me and this laptop are going to be very good friends because it has everything I was looking for in a laptop. :)
