I only ever do that on old or second/third round prompts though.
They tend to be easier to write because I'm less emotionally involved and pressured to get right. They also tend to be received more enthusiastically, of course that could just be excitement for getting an ignored prompt filled.

And occasionally I write stuff only tangentially linked to my interests because I'm curious about how I could make it happen. Rare-pairs, mostly.

I don't care overly if they get filled or not - but I do really like if my post starts a discussion thread or people talk about liking the prompt/idea behind the prompt.
