i was a big fan of portal 2 before i had a chance to play it (being broke really sucks, just fyi). having been a big fan of the first portal, i wasted no time reading every possible thing i could find on portal 2 months before i finally managed to play it.

i don't see the big deal to be honest. if people read up on a game or watch others play it, there'snot much of a difference between that and playing it for themselves. their experiences are still legit so naturally they're going to have the same feelings for the game, being a fan, as they would if they'd played it personally.

eta: i do want to add though that if i ever get into a game before playing it, i always end up playing it eventually, because i love games in general. i don't connect with people who don't like to play game but like... games? i understand liking the storyline or something though. if people don't like to play the games i think they should still be allowed to be in the fandom if they like something about said games.
