Sorry to say, but sometimes the gameplay is just plain crap. There are quite a few games I love where playing them firsthand... just isn't worth it. (And there are some where you can't get the same experience without it, but that's a different conversation.)

This. I love the early Silent Hill games (and have beaten them all multiple times) but I will be the first one to admit that the controls suck ass and I can easily see how people might have problems with them.
