Movie Endings that Made You Go "NOOOOOOOOOO"

[personal profile] escapedsnake911 2012-09-17 12:36 am (UTC)(link)
Anyone have any movie-endings that just broke you? Because I watched the French movie "Tomboy" last night, and when the credits rolled, just sat there saying "No, no, no" to my laptop for a minute or so.

The Mist.

I'm never watching it again.

Never.

Ahahahahha, that was my first thought exactly, anon.

They actually made the ending more depressing than it was in the short story.

THIS.

Apparently Stephen King himself preferred the movie ending. That displeased me.

I liked the ending. *ducks*

But I never read the short story and I hadn't actually enjoyed the movie up to that part so what do I know?

Mostly I enjoyed the ending because of the reactions of the people I was watching it with.

Does it still count as "watching the movie" if only the first half was played? I'd totally let you watch me watch The Mist as long as I get to turn it off or run away leave the premises before the end ;P

Oh boy.

- Jean de Florette/Manon des Sources. It does end on a positive note but I cry like a baby during the final reveal. And I've watched both films at least four times.

- The Magdalene Sisters. You think everything is fine and dandy (well... as much as it can get) and BAM. Final punch in the gut.

- My Mother's Castle. Beautiful film but the end just takes a knife at you and twists it.

My Mother's Castle make me bawl like a baby every time.

HANA-BI

The last scene is heartbreaking, in part because it's long and very idyllic and lovely but you know exactly how it's going to end. :'(

More aggravated than broken, but damned if A Murder of Crows wouldn't have had a more satisfying ending if the last 15 or 20 minutes didn't exist.

Time Bandits. I found that ending disturbing, depressing, and confusing all at once. Are his parents dead? Did the firefighters really not notice that the parents just disappeared and then drove off and left the kid all alone? It probably didn't help that I saw this movie as a child.

tomboy, yes, shit. i sort of expected the ending to be unhappy because, well, it's a french movie. but it was great anyway.

Hannibal. Clarice Starling, the greatest heroine in all of novel/movie history, turns into the brainwashed concubine of the villain. FUCK. THAT.

I didn't know the story beforehand so the ending hit me really hard. Enjoy!

(...as much as you're able to, I guess)

Chronicle.

Through out the movie everyone is yelling, "ANDREW! NO!" And then the end I was yelling, "ANDREW! NOOOO!"

Broke my heart, that character did.
