how is clint/coulson the second biggest pairing I don't even

I know...
Not just that, I've run into enough gen that turned out to have surprise!Clint/Coulson. And quite a bit of the fic tagged Nat/Clint is really breakup fic that ends in Clint/Coulson instead.

Sadly I can't stand that pairing even in tiniest doses, which turnes AO3 browsing into a kind of obstacle course.

I don't mind the pairing, but jesus, the way it ninja-jumps out of nowhere into the most innocent of fics you'd never even for a moment think would contain it...

Me: *reading cute character-study fic about totally non-SHIELD related character that's all about their backstory*

Fic: SUDDENLY, A WILD CLINT/COULSON APPEARS

Yeah seriously that's driving me crazy. I'm trying not to hate Clint/Coulson, but its propensity for popping up in gen starting to make me.

I feel that way about Steve/Tony, to be honest. :/ I wish people would just LIST THE PAIRINGS, whatever the case, but I've seen so many gen/other pairing stories with some Steve/Tony just hanging out in the background.
