I don't generally chat over online gaming systems either though. It's not that I refuse to give my id, like if someone is really determined I can give them my id, but I just don't take use of the online systems at all so I usually just don't give friends my information anymore. I have friends that do use the online chats, but as I said not all my friends are gamers and even with those that are I just tend to tell them that I'm too busy to really keep up with the online aspects of games (which I usually am) and they can respect that.

I'm also an introvert and for me games are sometimes a way to get away from people, so even though I talk to people about the games I like the social aspect usually doesn't come until after I've beaten the game. I don't like comparing scores or the competitive aspect of gaming either, for me gaming is a stress relief and getting competitive about it would just make my stress worse.

I just wouldn't automatically suspect people of not playing games just because they don't want to be overly involved with the online fandom.

Lol I'm not saying anyone would "suspect" them, I'm saying that eventually somebody's going to see your trophy/achievements list unless you refuse to give out your ID, ever, and if you're super active in a given game fandom but have no data or trophies/achievement's for that game the cat's out of the bag.

Which was very different from how it used to be, was my point. Not that I "suspect" people are non-players or anything (in my experience it's usually pretty obvious anyway - though most people are polite enough not to say so - so if you did play but just didn't want to give out your ID, I doubt anyone would "suspect" anything at all).
