Short meta thread

Anyone have any meta they've thought of that's too short for an entire post but they want to bounce of off other people, put it here! Any fandom is fair game.

This is more headcanon than meta, but I can't get it out of my mind: I'm pretty sure that in The Avengers, when Steve said "you should have left it (the tesseract) in the ocean", he was actually referring to himself.

...I would totally buy that *has a lot of Steve feelings*

I buy that. :D Also:

When Nick Fury says "The world is filling up with people who can't be matched, who can't be controlled," I believe that was a stealth reference to mutants and the X-Men. XD

Stargate

I think the Stargate series (SGA and SG1) is basically a show about "White Man's Burden". Maybe instead it's "Earth Man's Burden".

I don't care if no one gets this but me.

Yeah, pretty much. I mean, it's literally a show about the awesomeness of the American military constantly saving the world. I love it to death, but it has a little bit of an imperialist slant and a very pronounced pro-military slant (not that this is inherently a bad thing, ofc).

Yeah, for sure. I still love Stargate, but it's definitely something the show does.

I wanted to leave a comment on that video about how much I loved it, but they don't allow anon comments. :(

Take up the Earth Man's burden--
The savage wars of peace--
Fill full the bellies of Jaffa
And bid their sickness cease;
And when your goal is nearest
The end of Goa'uld sought,
Watch Ori and Origin Folly
Bring all your hopes to nought.

I imagined your icon crooning this and... it actually was pretty sweet.

I thought it was (SGA) a show about how incredibly stupid and cocky military/scientists are, stumbling around another galaxy, fucking things up and being all superior when they should have been sitting their asses down and learning stuff.

I mean - they were constantly doing the 'we know better!!' thing and then *boom*, it would blow up in their faces. Until they fucked up so bad they had to flee to Earth to save themselves.

*i liked SGA a lot, but omg, they were so stupid and obnoxious and, hello, genetic experiments on other sentient beings and...ack!!*
