I think it also has to o with the thins I watch. I mean, there was a time I was really into war movies - generally not many women in there. Sci-Fi has for the longest time been a pretty male-oriented niche, at least in the sense that it was heavily geared towards a male audience. Sure, I've noticed the lack of women in some shows - but I still find that universe fascinating regardless. One of my all-time favs was the A-Team, which was a very male-heavy show.
