Ding Dong, the Witch is Gone... :D
(Anonymous) 2012-09-18 12:34 am (UTC)(link)Background: After years of spinelessly allowing her to use me as chaffeur, personal assistant, IT, and that plastic thingy you put between your groceries and other people's groceries*, I told her I couldn't do it anymore. Cue her raging butthurt because she's so niiiiiiice, and I'm horrible to not realize that, but it's okay, it's not my fault my family raised me that way. Cue my raging butthurt over her shameless attempt at emotional blackmail, and how dare she bring my family into this, so grow up, you selfish hag. The only time I saw her is the rare occasion of passing her in the hallways at work. (Working for the same company is how we met in the first place.)
Fastforward about a year: She had taken a prolonged leave from work for medical reasons**. Upon returning, she couldn't go back to her original position, as it had been filled, so she was bounced around dept to dept trying to find something else she could do. She not only ended up in my dept, but is seated right next to me. Ex and I have done very well ignoring each other's existence. Actually I think she did better than me at 'ignoring', because I couldn't help but notice her "I'm too special for rules" attitude was spilling into her work ethic, and I was happy to let the manager know every time she broke those rules.
Cut to today: After lunch break, I see out of the corner of my eye that she is packing up her personal belongings into a box. Then I notice that it's not ex doing the packing, but someone from HR. Normally this would only happen during a termination, but then ex breezed back to her desk, and she and HR lady cheerily finish packing things. I thought I heard them mention something about retirement, but I'm not sure. It could also mean that things didn't work out in this dept and she's just being transferred to another.
TL;DR: One of the few people I have ever truly hated is a coworker who sits right next to me. Either she's moved to another dept or she's retired. Either way, she is fucking gone from my daily life. :D :D :D :D I feel free.
*One of my chaffeuring "duties" was to take her grocery shopping. She would leave me in the line with her stuff and run around reading through magazine racks, briefly checking on "her" place in line, and not actually stopping until the cashier started scanning/was waiting for her to come pay.
**I only know this because other coworkers (still thinking ex and I were friends) told me she was leaving/had come back.
